Spice is nice! I adore it! During chemo I used to eat spicy food whenever I could to blast away my chemo palate blahs. Whether Thai, South Asian, Szechuan or Korean, its strong flavors really made a huge difference in what I was eating. Spices bring more than just flavor and heat. Sweet spices like turmeric, cinnamon, and cloves, and hot-hot-hot ones like cayenne, black pepper and ginger, all have anti-inflammatory properties. Others, like cilantro are antibacterial. We have a lot of spicy recipes on the site, many more than are listed here. We decided to narrow them down to ones that do not pack too much heat for this menu collection. It’s more important to show ways of cooking with them.
