In season: Bananas are available year-round.
How to Buy: Choose evenly colored, yellow bananas without blemishes. For a longer shelf life, choose greener bananas. Those with brown specks will be riper and sweeter.
Storage: Store bananas at room temperature. If kept in the refrigerator, their skin will turn black but the fruit will remain unchanged. Peel and cover with plastic wrap to freeze.
