  • 1 cup ketchup
  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the ketchup, water, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, ground mustard, cayenne, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil on medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer. Cook uncovered, stirring frequently for about one hour until thick and rich in flavor.
  3. Allow the sauce to cool. Pour into an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.
