Lavender Lemonade

Lavender Lemonade is a cooling summer delight! The scent of lavender is soothing and calming, and on a hot day this would be the perfect pre-siesta refresher. Our lemonade recipes are not as sugary as store bought, but if, like me, you like your lemonade a little tart tasting, you may want to try reducing the amount of sugar used to make the lavender syrup by a quarter. You can always stir a little more in at the end if it suits your taste buds better, but a gradual reduction in the sweet stuff will help you manage your sweet tooth, a good thing!

1. In a small pot over medium high heat, combine sugar, lavender, and 1 cup water.
Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves. Remove syrup from heat and chill.

2. Strain lavender syrup into a large pitcher. Add lemon juice and 8 cups water. Adjust to taste, adding more lemon juice or water as necessary.

3. Chill and serve over ice.
