In season: Fresh pineapple can be found year-round, but they are truly in season from March through July.
How to buy: Choose very heavy pineapple that are fragrant, and give a little when pressed. Avoid... pineapples with brown soft bruises. The leaves at the top of pineapple will easily come out when the pineapple is ripe.
Storage: Whole pineapples can be stored at room temperature until desired ripeness. Cut pineapple should be stored in the refrigerator and eaten within five days.
